John C. Wilson, well known retired Raccoon merchant, died at Culver hospital Tuesday evening of last week after a short illness. He was 73 years of age. Mr. Wilson was a son of Michael and Elizabeth Black Wilson and had spent most of his life in the Raccoon vicinity. He had been retired a number of years and formerly had operated a general store at Raccoon. Surviving are two sons; Cully Wilson of this place and Lee Wilson of Raccoon; three daughters; Mrs. Daisy Woody, Mrs. Elva Nelson and Miss Hazel Wilson all of Raccoon; a brother Peter F. Wilson of Lebanon; two sisters; Mrs. Alice Ader of Bainbridge and Mrs. Ann Mary Richardson of Indianapolis, and nine grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death November 1934. Funeral services were held at the Raccoon Methodist church Sunday afternoon with burial in the Bainbridge cemetery.
