Robert K. Williams, an old resident of this city and veteran of the Civil War died at his home, 304 North Madison Street about 5 o’clock Friday afternoon, his death due to a wound which he received at the Battle of Richmond in 1862. The funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon; burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Mr. Williams is survived by a widow and five sons and three daughters. They are: Arthur Williams; Clarence Williams; Fred Williams; Everett Williams; Wilbur Williams; Mrs. James Sutton and Mrs. William Blake, all of this city and Mrs. CH Yowler of Indianapolis. Mr. Williams served in Company F, 123rd Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. At the Battle of Richmond, Ky in 1862, he received a wound, the bullet lodging directly under his heart. The wound gave him little trouble until recently. Internal hemorrhages resulted from the wound finally causing his death. Despite the wound Mr. Williams continued in the Army until the close of the great strife. Rev. BD Beck, assisted by Rev. GHL Beeman will conduct the services tomorrow. The pall bearers will be George Ensign; FA Hays; James McD Hays; Henry Grubb; CM Short and Asa Smith. The singers will be Harry Moore; Elmer Crawley; Miss Florence Parker and Miss Grace Sandifur. The funeral will be at the home at 2 o’clock under the auspices of the GAR. – kbz
