Greencastle – Robert E. Williams,
91, Greencastle died Friday in Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He
was a professor emeritus of speech at DePauw University, where he taught from
1921 to 1957, when he retired. He then taught part time until 1967.
Mr. Williams, a native of Madison was a 1916 graduate of DePauw
University and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He was a charter member of Forensics Honorary
Fraternity and Delta Sigma Rho. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Delta Epsilon
social fraternity and Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church at Greencastle. He
was a WWI veteran and a former director of Terre Haute Civic Theater. A
memorial service will beheld later. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church. Survivors include his wife, Ada Williams, a son, Robert E. William sJr
and daughter, Dorothy Venning . – kbz
