Mrs. Kate Riggs Wilder, daughter of Mr. DW Riggs of this city died Monday at her home in Brazil. The following appeared in yesterday’s Brazil Times. The Times had never had a sadder duty than that of chronicling the death of Mrs. E.D. Wilder, which occurred about 11:30 o’clock this morning at her home on north Colfax street. She has been suffering for some time from heart disease and lung trouble, but it was not thought the end was so near. Mrs. Wilder was formerly Miss Katie Riggs of Greencastle and was married to her now bereaved husband about 10 years ago and two beautiful children were born the fruits of this happy union. She has lived in this city sincere her marriage and has ever been identified in church work, in charity and in literary work. She was at the time of her death president of the woman’s reading club and filled that position with dignity and efficiency. It is the first death the club has had since its organization 10 years ago.  Gentle, thoughtful and considerate of the misfortunes and affliction of others, she possessed all that made a model woman and to the loser of such a treasure goes out the sympathy of the entire community. Few women were so universally loved as Mrs. Wilder and her memory will be cherished forever by her friends. - kbz
