WELCH, Tessie - Putnam

Alexandria, Ind – Tessie M. Welch, 82, RR 1 died Monday in Mercy Hospital, Elwood after a short illness.  Mrs. Welch was born in Alexandria but had lived most of her life in Greencastle, returning to Alexandria in 1980. She was secretary and bookkeeper for Black Lumber Co, Greencastle for more than 50 years. Her husband, James Welch died in 1960. Survivors include a son, Dennis Welch, Alexandria; two sisters, Clara Reese and Bertha Wire, both of Elwood; three nieces and a nephew. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Owens Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Pittman officiating. Graveside rites will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Calling hours will be 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. – kbz
