Robert Kelsey Watkins, 43, former dirt track racer and race car builder will be buried at Waynetown after services at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Moore, Kirk & Craciunoiu Ben Davis Chapel. He died Saturday after a heart attack in his home, 638 S. Biltmore. Born at Russellville, Mrs. Watkins had lived here 15 years. Although he gave up racing nine years ago, he continued to build cars for the American Automobile Association spring races and other races throughout the Midwest in his garage at home. Five years ago, a car he built from the chassis of a 1923 Model T Ford broke a speed record for a car of its type on the Bonneville salt flats. For 14 years, Mr. Watkins was night foreman at International Harvester Co. He was a member of Lynhurst Masonic Lodge and Russellville Federated Church. Survivors are the widow, Catherine Watkins; two sons, Harold and Larry Watkins and three sisters. – kbz
