Ray L. Watkins, 46, of 116 W. Miami, died at 5:45 o'clock Thursday evening at Billings hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient for the last month. he had been ill for two years. Prior to entering the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943, he was employed by the Indiana Bottled Gas and Skelgas companies. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Eagles lodge, and the Christian church. A native of Waveland, Indiana, he was born near there May 20, 1902. Survivors are the wife, Josephine; two daughters; Mrs. Mason Ulerick and Mrs. Morris Nicoll, this city; four grandchildren; his mother, who lives in Oshkosh, Nebraska; one brother and three sisters: Robert Watkins, Indianapolis; Mrs. Keith Reichard, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Forest Potter, Russellville; and one living in Phoenix, Arizona. One daughter, Mrs. Joyce Moon, died in 1947. The body is at the Chase-Miller chapel. Rites are pending.
