WALKER, Empson

Source: Greencastle Daily Banner 25 Nov 1958 p 1

Empson Walker, former local resident passed away Saturday night in the Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas from injuries caused by a wreck over a week ago which took the life of Mrs. Walker at the time of the accident.  Mr. Walker was thought to be showing some improvement after having suffered a compound fracture of his left leg, broken pelvis, broken jaw and internal injuries. Services were held today at the First Methodist Church in Brownsville, Tennessee from which church services for Mrs. Walker were held a week ago.  Mr. Walker is survived by the daughter Ann Jackson and two sons, Empson, Jr and David and two grandchildren.  He had recently retired after having operated with his brother two hardware stores and had been spending his time managing his farms where the principal crop was cotton. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Culver Fund, First Methodist Church, Brownsville, Tennessee. This fund is set up for two missionaries sent from the church in whom both Mr. and Mrs. Walker were very much interested and the family feel this is a fitting memorial for their parents.  The Walkers have many friends in Greencastle. Mrs. Walker prior to her marriage was secretary to Dr. LH Murlin, president of DePauw University.  She was graduated from DePauw and a member of Delta Zeta social sorority.  Mr. Walker was for many years representative in this area for Belnap Hardware wholesale firm of Louisville, Kentucky.

Note: Empson Walker born 1 Sept 1896 Haywood County, Tennessee died 23 Nov 1958 Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas.  Buried Oakwood Cemetery, Brownsville, Haywood County, Tennessee.  According to FindAGrave son of Empson Walker and Eula Greaves Walker
