On Friday night, August 18, 1893, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Vermilion, wife of Isaiah Vermilion of this city died at the family residence on East Seminary Street, this city after a painful illness of about two weeks. Deceased had been much wearing and fatigued in caring for her little daughter, Hazel, during her recent fatal illness.  She was illy able to bear the strain of sickness following so quickly - from the first she failed and soon came her departure hence to join Hazel and those “gone before.” The husband and children and other relatives thus doubly bereaved in so short a time, have the fullest and most earnest sympathy of a host of friends.  May He who only can so lighten their grief burdens that what seemeth gloom may be turned into gladness; may the Comforter be with and abide in them until at the last they all anchor in that haven of rest prepared for rest by Him for His people.  Mrs. Vermilion was born in this county in 1837; the daughter of Elder McCamey Elliott and wife. She was united in marriage to Isaiah Vermilion in 1865; 8 children were born to them, 5 of whom preceded the mother to the grave, and three with the stricken husband, live to mourn the loss of a loving wife and a good mother. The funeral, which was very largely attended took place on Sunday afternoon from the family residence, Dr. WD Hill conducting the services.  kbz
