The Rev. Thompson C. Vaughan, aged 53 years, a well-known Baptist minister died at his home in Belle Union Wednesday night after an illness of about two weeks of pneumonia. The funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Union Valley Church; burial in the New Providence cemetery. Rev. Vaughan is survived by a widow and two sons, Jewel Vaughan, a teacher in the Greencastle schools and Noble Vaughan who lives east of Belle Union. Rev. Vaughan was born in Kentucky but moved here with his parents when a small child, locating near Belle Union. After attending the schools at Belle Union he went to Danville and took a course at the Danville Normal. Returning from Danville he took up the ministry and studied at his home. During his life he had held charges at the Union Valley Church, the Bethel Church, and the Baptist churches at Reno and Fontanet. At the time of his death he was the minister for the Betel and Fontanet Baptist churches. The funeral Friday will be in charge of the Appelgate Lodge of Masons from Filmore. – kbz
