TURNER, John A. - Putnam

John A. Turner, 97, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John T. Couchman here. Born in Putnam Co., September 9, 1838, son of Greenville and Rhoda Turner.Their modest little home, such as were the homes in those early days, was situated on the banks of the little stream of Ramp Creek, near Fincastle. He married November 13, 1859, Sarah Pauline Goslin. She died August 1924. One daughter, Carrie L. Grider passed away September 8, 1897, another child was taken in infancy. Survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Couchman, Mrs. Laura Bridges, also of this place, and Mrs. Orpha Brothers of Greencastle; Three sons; John Frank Turner, Tuscola, Illinois, Col. Fred H. Turner, Ft. Warren, Wyoming, and G. Edgar Turner, Harford, Connecticut, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
