TOOL, Benjamin - Putnam

Funeral services were held at the Chastain funeral home Sunday afternoon for Benjamin D. Tool, 82, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cully Wilson early Saturday morning. Burial was made in the Roachdale Cemetery. Mr. Tool had been ill several years and had been in serious condition the past month. he was born near Barnard March 14, 1858, the son of Matthew and Mary Stringer Tool. He had been an invalid since fracturing a hip three years ago. Survivors include the four daughters; Mrs. Inez Wilson at whose home he died, Mrs. Violet Detro of Fillmore, Mrs. Helen Stewart, and Mrs. Margaret Stewart both of North Salem; one son, Marion Tool of Glenco, Illinois, three sisters; Mrs. Maggie Hurt of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Francis Topping of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Josephine McCloud of Crawfordsville; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.( additional info from another obit in the same paper: died April 13, 1940.
