THORNTON, Thelma - Putnam

Services were held Friday afternoon for Thelma M. Thornton, 79, Rt 1, Bainbridge who died at her residence Tuesday. She was born in Benington, the daughter of Carl and Lizzie (Aldred) Miles.  Mrs. Thornton was a sales clerk for the GC Murphy Co for 18 years until her retirement in 1962.  She had lived in Bainbridge for the last two years. Survivors include her husband, Herbert B. Thornton, Bainbridge and three sons, Lillard A. Thornton, Fred O. Thornton and Lloyd E. Thornton, all of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Services were conducted at Conkle Funeral Home, Lynhurst Chapel, Indianapolis with Rev. Jim Linn officiating. Burial was at the Forest Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery near Greenwood. – kbz
