Greencastle – An 86-year-old DePauw University alumnus who had returned to Greencastle over the weekend to observe the 50th anniversary of his graduation died today on the campus. The Rev. Mont M. Thornburg, Millbury, Mass died in Mason Hall where he was registered for alumni events held in connection with commencement. The Rev. Mr. Thornburg had delivered the invocation for the university’s alumni chapel at which he and his 50-year classmates were honored Saturday.  Born in Redkey, he resided in Ridgeville while attending DePauw. He began his ministry at New Haven in 1911, six years before his graduation in 1917.  At the time of his death, he was retired from the ministry but was serving as president of a bank in Millbury. He had been in ill health, but relatives said he was determined to attend the alumni reunion. -kz
