"Raccoon news" - Mrs. Lavina Swank died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Devlin in Pratt, Kansas Dec 23, 1896.  She was married to the Rev. Cornelius Swank Sept 11, 1834. TO them were born 10 children, 5 of whom are living, 3 boys and 2 girls. Mr. and Mrs. Swnak located near Raccoon where they lived many years, and were well and favorably known in Putnam and adjoining counties.  Mrs. Swank has been a devoted
christian from girlhood. She revealed a spirit of rare loveliness and unfolded a character most beautiful which greatly endeared her to a large circle of friends. Mrs. Swank has been in poor health for over two years. She is a sister of Mrs. RZ Lockridge and an aunt of the Skillman boys and Miss Lide of this place   --- kbz
