SUTHERLIN, Lewis

Lewis Sutherlin. age 60 years, a farmer, residing about 3 miles south near 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon by lightning. Mr. Sutherlin, with two sons, were plowing corn in a field just over the Owen county line when a thunder storm came up. Mr. Sutherlin sought shelter under a tree, the two sons also were under the tree but they were astride the horses. The father was leaning against the tree when the bolt struck and he was killed almost instantly. Both the horses were knocked down but luckily neither of the boys were injured. The Owen county coroner was called to investigate the case.
