John W. Sutherlin, the father of Mrs. Leland Gooding, died in Culver Hospital on Tuesday morning. He was taken there after suffering injuries in a car accident on Sunday morning. He was alone at the time his car overturned on the Morton road near the Charles Sutherlin place. He was the son of John W. and Amanda Grimes Sutherlin and was born near Russellville Feb 4, 1865 and most of his life was spent in the same locality. Mrs. Sutherlin died February 27, 1939. There are surviving three daughters, Mrs. Leland Gooding, Mrs. Donneth Yount of Plymouth and Mrs. Bertha McGaughey of Russellville. Funeral services on Wednesday afternoon at the McGaughey funeral parlors was in charge of Rev C. I. Airhart. Burial in Russellville Cemetery.

John Sutherlin, 73, of near Fincastle died at Culver hospital, Crawfordsville. Tuesday morning from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Sunday morning. It is said the machine overturned, injuring Sutherlin about the chest. John W. Sutherlin, aged resident of the Russellville community died at Culver Hospital here Tuesday morning at 2:35 o'clock of injuries received Sunday morning when his automobile overturned near his home. The accident victim, 75, was crushed about the chest. Details of the mishap in which he was injured were not received. He was born Feb 4, 1865, the son of John Walker Sutherlin and Amanda Grimes Sutherlin. His entire life was spent in Putnam County much of it in the same home near Russellville. He was a member of t he K of P lodge. He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Naomi Gooding of Wave land, Mrs. Doneth Young of Plymouth and Mrs. Bertha McGaughey of Russellville; two brothers, Charles and Jesse McGaughey (sic) of Russellville and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from McGaughey & Son Funeral Home in Russellville. Burial will be made in Russellville cemetery.
