PH “Pat” Summers, age 58, died Tuesday evening at 9:20 o’clock at the hospital from injuries received Tuesday afternoon while at work at the Lone Star Cement Plant. The accident occurred while Mr. Summers was dumping clay from the quarry pit, in company with several other workmen, and cleaning out the bottom of one of the quarry cars which contained a quantity of wet clay. The mechanism of the dump car failed to function and the car closed catching him across the chest.  Mr. Summers had been previously employed at the Cement Plant, but had just returned to work there last Friday. He was born at Limedale, April 5, 1871 to John and Hanora Summers. Five brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death. He is survived by one niece, Miss Margaret Howard and five nephews, John, Harry and Robert all of whom reside on North Jackson Street Road, Daniel of Indianapolis and Edward of Galesburg, Ill.  Mr. Summers lived his entire lifetime in Limedale and Greencastle. For a number of years he worked as motorman on the THI & E Traction Co and for some time was employed at the Pennsylvania Depot at Limedale. The deceased was well known and liked by everyone who came in contact with him.  He had been employed at numerous jobs around the city and had won many friends, who are grieved to learn of his tragic death. The funeral will be held from the McCurry Home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.   - kbz
