Dayton – Gale Summers, 67, of 293 Harrison St, died at 1 a.m. today in Home Hospital. He was born at Roachdale and reared at Lafayette. He spent most of his life in this area. In 1836, he married at Crown Point to Florence Richard who survives. Mr. Summers was owner of Gale Summers Plumbing Co for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He previously had been employee at Alcoa. He was a member of Dayton Presbyterian Church. Surviving with the widow are four sons, Michael, James, William and Dennis Summers, all of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Jacqueline) Herlin of Chicago Heights, Ill; three brothers, William Summers of Lafayette, Ralph Summers of Crawfordsville and Wendell Summers of Delphi and one sister, Mrs. Howard (Mary) Goldsmith of Lafayette.

Summers, Gale – Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service in Hippensteel Chapel, 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. William Beswick officiating. Interment Rest Haven Memorial Park. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Cancer Fund. - kbz
