The funeral of Jesse O. Stutsman, former Methodist Episcopal pastor at Selma, superintendent of the federal detention prison at New York, who died at Lewisburg, PA will be conducted at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the family home in Cumberland, Ind and burial will be at Philadelphia, Ind. The former Methodist minister, widely known at the time of his death for his efforts in behalf of prison reform was pastor of churches at Selma, Lafontaine and Goldsmith after his graduation from DePauw University in 1895 and his ordination a year later. He was born in Philadelphia, near Cumberland. After spending several years in the ministry Mr. Stutsman completed graduate study in 1907 at Johns Hopkins University and became interested in work among convicted men.  He was an expert in character analysis of criminals and lectured frequently on the establishment of farm colonies for convicts. In addition to his superintendence of the federal detention prison he was employed by the US Department of Justice and directed the federal school for training prison officials. Recently he was transferred from New York to Lewisburg, PA to effect organization work.  Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Lyda Stutsman; three children, Dr. Rachel Stutsman of Detroit; Miss Ruth Stutsman of Lewisburg, PA; Paul Stutsman of Chicago and his mother, Mrs. Victoria Stutsman of Cumberland, Ind. - kbz
