STRAWN, Thomas David - Putnam

Strawn, Thomas David; Roachdale’s oldest resident and one of the oldest in Putnam Co., passed away early Wednesday morning at this home in Roachdale. He was 97 years old. The deceased taught school for 25 years and was also a minister in his earlier years. Born 18 September 1847 in Tuscaramas Co., Ohio, the son of Charles Wesley and Sarah Denny Strawn. He was married to Martha Cline of Stanton, Indiana, 28 June 1876. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Edith G. Handy of Roachdale, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Haines of Miami, Florida; one son, Walter W. of Farmersburg; several grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Final rites will be held at 2 O’clock Friday afternoon at the Chastain Funeral Home in Roachdale. Internment will be in the Roachdale Cemetery. - mw
