Source: Roachdale Times newspaper, Roachdale, Putnam County, Indiana 8/16/1939

Ernest Stoner, assistant postmaster at Greencastle, died suddenly in the office of a physician there Monday morning. He had been in poor health for several days. Mr. Stoner was widely known in the county as a sportsman and hunter and had many friends in this community. He was a member of the wildlife conservation committee and was a charter member of the Roachdale Conservation Club, having helped in forming it in 1937. Mr. Stoner became a clerk in the Greencastle post office in 1902 and was appointed assistant postmaster in 1917. The widow and a brother survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Paul's Catholic church in Greencastle, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Elks and Kiwanis    --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for donating her wonderful Roachdale Times obituary file for use on this site.
