STONE, Henry Arthur "Hank"

Spencer – Henry A. “Hank” Stone, 82 of Rt 2, Spencer died Friday at the Fontanbleu Nursing Center in Bloomington.  Born Aug 8, 1910 in Putnam County, he was the son of Arthur and Lula (Toney) Stone.  He retired in 1978 from the Spencer Post Office. He had also worked at Ball Brothers Zink Mill, Burn’s Currie Tin and Furnace Shop and Bob Gould’s all in Greencastle.  A 1931 graduate of Greencastle HS he played all-state forward on the 1931 state basketball team.  He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 285 in Spencer.  Survivors include one daughter, Gay Dell of Rt 2, Spencer; two brothers, Ted Stone of Terre Haute and Donald “Tuck” Stone of Seminole, Fla; three grandchildren and one great grandson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie (Hale) Stone in 1975; two sisters, Lucille Stone and Jula Stone; four brothers, Claude Stone, Andy Stone, Weldon “Buck” Stone and Edgar Stone and one great granddaughter.  Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cottage Hill Cemetery. -kbz
