Stites, William - Putnam

Reports have just been received of the death of Wm. States after an illness of but 22 hours at his home near Jacksonport, Ark. Mr. Stites was an old and well-known resident of Clinton Township, Putnam County where he was born and raised. He was married twice, his first wife being Lyddie Richards and after her death he married Emerine Ewing. Mr. Stites, with his aged father, Aaron Stites, and family left Putnam County in the fall of 1881 and went o Missouri and from there to Arkansas where he last resided. Since he left here his father, wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law and himself have passed to the beyond and now but four remain out of the 11 that left here. Could we realize a family being torn asunder as this one has since the time they left here, then all stout and robust?  A relative.  -- kbz
