Moses Stewart, the aged father of Mrs. George W. Bowman, passed away at her home three miles northeast of town at an early hour Tuesday morning, following a long illness for complications incident to old age.  Mr. Stewart had made his home with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Bowman for some time past and for the past year had been confined to his bed most of the time. The funeral services were held at the home Thursday at 12:00 o'clock noon by Rev. Cornelius Airhart of Crawfordsville and interment was made at Ladoga.  Moses Stewart, son of Hiram and Nancy Parks Stewart was born in Indiana near Greencastle, March 8, 1838. Here he grew to manhood, and Oct 28, 1861, he was united in marriage to Martha S. Davidson. To this union 7 children were born, two daughters and five sons, one son passing away at the age of two years. He chose as his vocation, that of farming, and he and his good wife lived happily on the farm until she passed away 38 years ago. Left to care for a large family he continued to make a home for and with his children all these years since the death of his wife.  In early life he united with the Methodist Church and continued a believer in the faith until the end. For more than 25 years he had been more or less afflicted and for the last year had been seriously ill.  All was done for him that could be done by relatives, physicians and friends but without avail and in the early hours of Tuesday morning, he passed quietly and peacefully away at the ripe old age of 84 years 2 months and 1 day, leaving to mourn three brothers, William Stewart of Indianapolis; JD Stewart of Ft. Worth Tex; M. Stewart of Roachdale and three sisters, Mrs. Eliza and Mrs. Susan Riggles and Mrs. Nancy Jeffries, all of Roachdale; two daughters, Mrs. George Bowman and Mrs. Martha J. Faust of Indianapolis; four sons, WV Stewart of Lafayette; Bert and Arch Stewart of Crawfordsville and Samuel Stewart of New Castle and 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.  A father, grandfather, brother, relative, neighbor and friend, has gone to his reward. May peace be unto his departed soul. - transcribed by kbz
