Source: Greencastle Herald 4 Dec 1919 p1

John Stark, one of the victims of a mine explosion in Clinton on Wednesday, was the husband of Ruth Owens Stark, formerly of Amo and a cousin of Mrs. Charles Broadstreet. Mrs. Stark is well known here having attended and being graduated from the Greencastle HS in the of 1902.  During the years she attended school here, Mrs. Stark lived with Mr. and Mrs. Charley Broadstreet.  The explosion occurred at the Bogle Mine No 3, late Wednesday afternoon.  Six men were killed and three were injured in the explosion. The explosion was caused from a “windy” or improperly packed shot, placed by one of the men, who were all in the mine, attempting to get coal for the boilers. All the men caught in the explosion were company men. - kz
