SPURGEON, Tullis

Joplin, Nov 7 - Tullis Spurgeon, 38 years old, died at St. John Hospital as a result of injuries received in a dynamite explosion near Cinger Blue, 45 miles south of Joplin. Spurgeon’s death is the second due to the explosion, Luther Michael of Splitlog having died within a few hours after the accident. Spurgeon, whose who was at Pineville, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Spurgeon; an infant daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Spurgeon of Carthagte; three brothers, Ross and Donn of Carthage, and Everett of Phoenix, Arix and one sister, Mrs. Cecil Knight of Carthage.  Spurgeon received injuries to his head and his right lung was punctured when a quantity of dynamite exploded.  William H. Watson of  Lanagan who was seriously injured is still at St. John where he is reported to be recovering.  Charles Roark, who was less seriously hurt is also in the hospital. – kbz
