After the dusk of the evening star
Comes the glowing of the morning sun;
God has asked for a life on earth to be suddenly ended,
But has a plan awaiting for an eternal one.

Although we were not ready
For the request He made of us,
Our goal is waiting for us too
If we will have faith, hope, love and trust.

Maynard Cline Spencer, son of Fred and Nannie Sutherlin Spencer was born in Putnam County, January 2, 1910. He suddenly passed from his life on earth, June 20, 1960 at his home four miles south of Russellville, aged 50 years 5 months and 18 days.

Cline was a graduate of the 1928 Class at Russellville, followed by a one years course at Purdue University. He was a member of the Russellville Federated Church and a loyal helper to a host of friends, relatives and neighbors.

On April 9, 1934, he was united in marriage to Margaret Murphy of Peru. To this union was born three children, Charles Murphy, Kenny Joe and Connie Jean Spencer. Cline's (Spinny's) helping hand was always extended to both his family and friends. Although a farmer he has always enjoyed the challenge to make an ailing piece of machinery work again, and has enjoyed the happiness received from his children and grandson.

Surviving besides his widow, Margaret; are two sons and one daughter, Charles of Russellville, Kenny Joe and Connie Jean at home; his parents, Fred and Nannie Spencer; one sister, Vera Harbison; one grandson, Charles Wayne Spencer; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Harbison; and a daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Spencer.

With a cheery smile and a wave of his hand
He has wandered into an unknown land.

Think of them as ?aring on as dear
In the love of there as in the love of here,
Think of them as the same, I say
They are not dead, they are just away.
