SPENCER, George M. - Putnam

Waveland, Ind – Services for George M. Spencer, 72, a retired Putnam County banker, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Machledt and Servies Funeral Home here.  A lifelong Waveland resident, Mr. Spencer died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital in Indianpaolis. He worked 38 years for the Russellville Bank, retiring as executive vice president when the bank voluntarily dissolve din 1969.  He was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville, the Russellville Volunteer Fire Department, the Russellville Booster Club, the Tri-County Fair Association and the Putnam County Red Cross Association. Survivors include his wife, Wilma S. Spencer; three daughters, Martha Joan Leyda, Margaret Ann Payne and Mary Lee Moore, and a son, George W. Spencer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer Memorial Fund in care of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. – kbz
