Greencastle, Ind Aug 8 – Funeral services were held Monday for Sgt. Perry B. Snider, the first Putnam County boy to lose his life in France. The body arrived in Greencastle Saturday. The Rev. Henry L. Davis, pastor of the College Avenue Methodist Church and Dr. Hilliary A. Gobin, VP of DePauw University conducted the services at the home of Snider’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. LB Snider. Military honors were paid by the Greencastle Post of the American Legion. - kbz

Mrs. Heber Ellis was hostess at the April meeting of the Washburn Chapter of Greencastle. Mrs. Jennie Curtis Hearst presented a number of books to the chapter and these will be sent to Caney Creek in addition to the 250 volumes sent a few weeks ago. Mrs. LD Snider presented a chapter regent’s pin in memory of her son, Perry B. Snider, a sergeant, who was wounded in action in Belleau wood June 18, 1918 and who died June 19. Mrs. Truman Yuncker gave a report of the recent state council meeting. Miss Ella Beckwith made a report as chairman of the committee appointed to compile the standing rules of the chapter.
