Harold V. Smythe, 70, Cloverdale, died Saturday Feb 2, 1991 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the stepfather of Gary Haltom of Mooresville and Patty Paris of Quincy. Born Sept 4, 1920, in Cloverdale, he was the son of Otho V. and Hurtha McAnnich Smythe.  His wife, Tone Haltom Smythe preceded him in death Jan 20, 1985. They were married July 21, 1965.  Mr. Smythe was the manager of the meat department for Langdom Brothers Grocery in Cloverdale and supervisor of the kitchen supervisor of the kitchen department for the Indiana Youth Center at Plainfield, retiring in 1986.  Survivors besides the local stepchildren are two daughters, Evejean Jones of Gosport and Judy Fitzsimmons of Brazil; one son, Maynard Smyth (sic) of Indianapolis; two other stepsons, Michael Haltom of Ft. Myers, Fla and Glenn Haltom of Cloverdale; three other stepdaughters, Linda Bixler of Greencastle, Mardenna Boler of Cloverdale and Charlene Freeman of Indianapolis; 29 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. His funeral was at 2 p.m. today at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. The Rev. Robert Huber officiated. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery. - kbz
