SMYTHE, George Virgil - Putnam

George Virgil Smythe, 71 of 1207 West Fifth Street died at 9:45 o’clock last night at Ball Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Smythe was born in Putnam County, Ind and moved to Muncie in 1913. He was a member of Muncie Lodge of Moose No 33, Chevrolet Muncie UAWA Local No 499 and the Mt. Merdian Methodist Episcopal Church in Putnam County.  He was employed as a millwright at the Chevrolet – Muncie plant for many years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Effie Jane Smythe of Muncie, a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Cunningham, RFD 5, Muncie; two grandchildren, Gary and Shirley Cunningham and several nieces and nephews in Greencastle. The body was taken to the Parson Mortuary. – kbz
