SMITH, Rutha ? (dau of Wm) - Putnam

Coroner Ed Kleinbub was called to the home of Wm. Smith near Limedale Wednesday morning to investigate the cause of death of Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s infant daughter. The child, which was 28 days old slept Tuesday night in bed with its parents and a little sister.  At two o’clock it was nursed by its mother and fell asleep on her arm. About daylight Mrs. Smith awoke and found that the baby had slipped from her arm and was dead.  Dr. Poole made an examination and ascertained that death had resulted from suffocation.  The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the facts.
