Funeral services for Miss Pearl G. Smith wife of Elmer R. Smith of near Portland Mills was this afternoon at 2 o’clock in the residence with Rev. Brattain of Bainbridge in church.  Burial was in the Mt. Mariah cemetery near Hollandsburg.  Mrs. Smith died in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock following an illness of pneumonia and complications.  Previous to entering Methodist Hospital she had been in a hospital in Terre Haute for treatment.  Mrs. Smith has been a life-long resident of Putnam County and was a charter member of the Morton chapter of the Eastern Star lodge.  The lodge gave their ritualistic service at the grave.  She is survived by the husband and a son, Morris Smith and three brothers: Fay Hamilton and James Hamilton of this city and CB Hamilton of Eureka, Montana and a sister, Mrs. Claire Gibson of Indianapolis.  The deceased was a graduate of DePauw Music school and the Danville Music school.  Among those who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fay Hamilton, Miss Mary Glen Hamilton, Miss Louise Hamilton, Francis and Lowell Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton all of this city.  Mrs. Claire Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Eugen Kuline and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dyer of Indianapolis.   ---transcribed by kbz
