The death of John William Smith, age 41 occurred at his home on Fox Ridge Monday night following a long illness of tuberculosis.  The funeral services will be held at the Providence Church on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock.  Burial in the Providence cemetery.  The deceased is survived by a widow and two sons.  Rev. Oscar L. Jones will officiate at the funeral.   ---transcribed by kbz

John William Smith died at his home on Fox Ridge Monday night about 1:30 o’clock of tuberculosis.  He was 41 years of age and was the son of James and Rachel Smith who have preceded him to a better land.  He was married on the 16th day of October 1992 (sic) to Miss Mary Thompson.   To this union were born five children, two dying in infancy.  He leaves to mourn his loss the widow and three children, namely: James, Patrick and Carrie.  He was a loyal husband and father, devoting his entire time to the interest of his home and family.  He was loved and esteemed by a host of friends and neighbors who join in extending the bereaved family the sympathy of the loss of husband and father.  Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Thomas Vaughn and Rebecca Masten.  Interrment at Providence cemetery.   ---transcribed by kbz
