SMITH, C. N. - 1895 - Putnam

C.N. Smith, who played in the Greencastle baseball nine in 1885, was hanged in Decatur, Ills, on Friday for the murder of his little daughter and sister-in-law.  Red liquor and a sporting life led to his crime and the death penalty inflicted therefor. - kbz
