SLOAN (Dr) John March

Died: 3 Oct 1905 age 94 Putnam County buried Brick Chapel

He practiced with Dr. James Hervey Slavens 1861-63; John (Jack) Slavens, Joseph WR Slavens and his brother, Zenas Ludolphus Slavens ALL practiced with him during that time period

Mother: Elizabeth Pherr b KY 19 Nov 1782 died Indiana 26 Sept 1846 Brick Chapel

Brother: Reuben b 30 Oct 1825 Montgomery KY; died 30 Aug 1893 Yates Center, Woodson Co KS

was a merchant in Greencastle, Putnam Co until 1869 when moved to Neosho Falls, Kansas where he was also a merchant many years.  1880 moved to Yates Center, KS and made his home with his son – married Martha F. Inge 1832-1895
Children: Queen, Horace, Mary and Henry sho died as a child in 1838

Married to Sarah Warden Slavens (born Bath Co KY 15 June 1818 - died 25 Feb 1897 - buried with him at Brick Chapel

Brick Chapel – March 1st being the 80th anniversary of Dr. John Slavens, about 50 of his friends gathered in with well filled baskets and gave him a grand surprise, the day thoroughly enjoyed by all.
