SINGLETON, Florence Dooley

A message was received yesterday by relatives in this city containing announcement of the death of Mrs. Florence M. Singleton which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at her home in Greencastle, Ind. Mrs. Singleton was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. JM Dooley, former well known residents of this city. She was born in Old Town Township, this county Jan 4, 1854 and shortly afterwards was taken to Putnam County Indiana by her parents where the family remained until the fall of 1864 when they returned to this state and located in Old Town township. In February 1880 she was united in marriage to BC Singleton and removed to Indiana where she has since made her home. Mrs. Singleton is survived by six children, five daughters and one son as follows: Edith Singleton, Sylvia Singleton, Mrs. Earl O’Hair, Jessie Singleton, Gladys Singleton and Willard Singleton and two grandchildren, Keith and Margaret O’Hair, all of Greencastle, Ind. Besides her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Singleton is survived by the following named brothers and sisters: RW Dooley, Samuel C. Dooley and Raymond Dooley of Bloomington, Ill; CW Dooley and Emma D. Ayers of Chicago; Edna D. Frink of Peoria and Bernice C. Pearson of Norristown, PA. Mrs. Singleton was a woman of a peculiarly amiable temperament with a rare capacity for making and retaining friends and throut her entire life her friends were number by her acquaintances. Her death, while ending a long period of suffering, patiently borne, came as a great shock to her family and friends. The body will be brought to Bloomington for interment and the time and place of the funeral will be announced later.
