Ralph, son of Marion and Louie Sinclair, was born Oct 23, 1888; died Sept 10, 1892, aged 3 years 10 months and 18 days. He was an only child and possessed such a sweet spirit as to endear him to all who knew him. Intellectually he was older than his years indicate. He was an admirer of beautiful and seemed to be conscious of his early departure from the scenes of earth. When offered medicine during his last illness he preferred not to take it for as he reasoned, “It will mar the beauty of the flowers that he loved,” and thought he held in his hand and kissed. His favorite speech was, “Suffer little children and forbid them not, to come unto me, for of such is the kingdome of heaven;” which he was always ready to recite for the entertainment of his numerous friends. He seemed to have been more than ordinarly endowed with a talent for music although neither of his parents sing. He readily learned everything he heard and snatches of different songs he sang beautifully during his sickness. . Two days prior to his death he sang all through with angel sweetness the dear old, “Home, Sweet Home.” He died near Cincinnati, Ohio and was brought to Fillmore, Ind for burial where his little form was tenderly laid away in its last earthly resting place. The writer conducted the funeral service, using as a text Ralph’s favorite speech… John E. Newhouse.
