SIMS, Ancil Wayne - Putnam

Muncie – Ancil Wayne Sims, 85 of Muncie, IN passed away Sunday April 26, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1924 in Greencastle IN the son of Roscoe Nelson and Nora Belle (Blunk) Sims.  Ancil served near 4 years in the Army during WWII as Pvt First Class. He then entered the trucking industry and was a truck driver for 35 years for Caig Trucking in Albany IN whom later sold to B&L Trucking out of Newark, Ohio.  He later retired in 1986.  Ancil was also recognized for numerous safe driving certificates during his time. Ancil was a former member of Cowan United Methodist Church.  Ancil also enjoyed working with his hands. His family also remembers his enjoyment with fishing in Ohio. Surviving relatives include a son, Ronald W. Sims of Springport, IN; daughters, Marcia Hughes (husband, Steve) of Muncie IN; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and 3 nephews and former wife and caretaker, Ila Sims of Muncie, In. Ancil was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wilma Wyne. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 29, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN. Pastor Gordon Jackson will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
