Putnamville, Ind – A 26-year-old Indianapolis man serving time at Putnamville Correctional Facility was pronounced dead after fellow inmates found him lying unresponsive in a bed.  Jason Simpson, 26, was taken to a Greencastle hospital after inmates told a dorm officer at the medium-security prison that he “didn’t look quite right” and was foaming at the mouth, prison spokeswoman Alisia Lawrence said. Medical staff arrived two minutes after they were called and tried CPR, but Simpson was pronounced dead at 4:50 a.m. Saturday at Putnam County Hospital.  Lawrence said Simpson was not found in his own bed, but foul play was not suspected.  An autopsy will be performed today. Simpson was scheduled to be release din 2010.  He was serving time in Putnamville for robbery, carrying a handgun without a license, resisting law enforcement, and possession of marijuana. The western Indiana medium-security prison averages 2,417 inmates daily.
