Isom Silvey was born in North Carolina July 18, 1810 and departed this life near New Maysville March 21 1875 aged 64 years 8 months two days. He settled in Putnam County in 1830 near Carpentersville and remained in that part of the county till his death having been a citizen of the county 45 years. His sickness was of short duration. He was taken sick with typhoid pneumonia Monday March 15 and died the following Sunday. Mr. Silvey was an upright, honest man, commanding the respect and confidence of all with whom he had to do. He was a very successful farmer – commencing with nothing by industry and economy he had accumulated an abundance of this world’s goods. But not to the neglect of his spiritual and eternal interests. He had been a faithful member and liberal supporter of the ME Church for nearly 40 years and when death came it had no terrors. His dying utterance was, “I am fully prepared to die.” He will be missed in the community and in the church as well as his family. “He rests from his labor and his works will follow him.”
Note: I don’t see him buried anywhere ☹
