Andrew J. Sigler was born in Putnam County, Indiana Feb 14, 1846 and died at Urich, Mo Nov 30, 1917 age 71 years 9 months 16 days. On April 10, 1866 he married Emma C. Orth who departed this life Sept 16, 1911. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. JS Lime; Mrs. WC Miller and Phil Sigler of Urich and AW Sigler of Clinton, a conductor on the Clint Line. All his children were with him in his last hours. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. On Nov 5, 1914 he married Mrs. Sarah A. Scranton who survives him. He was a member of the Christian Church at this place. During the civil war he was a Union soldier, serving about three years in a Kansas regiment but the exact dates and figures we were unable to obtain. At the outbreak of the civil war he lived in Iowa to which state he returned at the close of the war. He came to Ulrich in 1884 when the new town where now located was first laid out and he had lived here ever since and for a good many years was closely identified with the improvement and upbuilding of the town. As a contractor he built several of our business buildings, erecting for RF Miller in 1889 the first brick building in the town. For several years, he had not actively engaged in any business. Funeral services conducted by Rev. WC Hicks, pastor of the Presbyterian church were held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and the remains were interred at the Urich cemetery. – kbz
