Caroline Shuler, 66, of Crawfordsville died at 6:40 a. m. Sunday in Culver Hospital. She had taught elementary music at Mount Zion, East Union, Sommer and Sugar Creek elementary schools.

She was a member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church; Delta Zeta; Delta Kappa Gamma; Tri Kappa; Current Events Club; Montgomery County Historical Society; board member of Crawfordsville High School Alumni Association; and board member of Anna Willson Foundation.

Mrs. Shuler was also a member of Crawfordsville Music Club, Morning Musicale, Crawfordsville Art League, Needle Working Group, Dorothy Q Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and was an elder, deacon and choir member at her church.

She was a 1950 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and a 1954 graduate of DePauw University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She earned her Master’s degree in music from Indiana State University.

Mrs. Shuler was born Dec. 6, 1931, at Crawfordsville to George C. and Edith Chadwick Hutchins. She married Robert Shuler on Dec. 11, 1954, at Crawfordsville. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard of Indianapolis and Brad of Westfield; and a daughter, Dr. Sara Shuler of Indianapolis.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a. m. Wednesday in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home at 315 S. Washington St., with the Rev. David Rosen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, North, Oak Hill Road. Friends may call 4-8 p. m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawfordsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.
