On April 14, at the family residence in Jefferson Township, Mrs. Mahala Shaw, wife of Oliver J. Shaw, died after a sickness of about 4 months, during which time she suffered greatly. The funeral took place on Monday, the services being conducted at the residence by Dr. WD Hill of this city burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. The deceased was widely known and respected and loved by all who knew her, and the bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of all in this great bereavement. On Sunday afternoon an autopsy was held, conducted by Drs. Preston, Prichard and Mullinix, which disclosed that death resulted from chronic gastritis, complicated with degeneration of the liver – kbz

Mrs. Shaw died at her home on Saturday evening in Jefferson Township between Mt. Meridian and Belle Union.  Mrs. Shaw was wife of Mr. Oliver Shaw, one of the best known citizens of this county and one of its largest land owners. Mrs. WA Farmer of this city a daughter of the deceased. The funeral occurred Monday, the interment being made at Forest Hill.  The following is sent us from Cloverdale, additional news concerning the illness and death of Mrs. OJ Shaw. Mahala Shaw, wife of Oliver J. Shaw, died April 14 at her home in Jefferson Township. She had been sick four months.  An autopsy was held on Sunday conducted by Drs Preston, Prichard and Mullinix of Cloverdale. The examination disclosed that she had been suffering from chronic gastritis complicated with degeration of the liver.  - kbz
