Joe A. Sewell, 79, 124 N. Chester St., Indianapolis, died suddenly at his home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Sewell was a retired navy veteran of the aeronautics division. He had farmed in the Parkersburg area prior to moving to Indianapolis. He was a member of the Raccoon Methodist Church and received his education in the Russellville area schools. He was born Jan. 20, 1893, the son of Pressly and Mary Evans Sewell. He was married in 1914 to Ina Nichols who survives. Surviving with the wife are two sons, Robert and Dewayne of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Brann of Florida and Mrs. Mildred Todd and Mrs. Wilma West, both of Indianapolis; one brother, David of California; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Fullenwider and Mrs. Mattie Lear, both of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Will McGaughey of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sewell was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Powers Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with burial in Russellville Cemetery.
