SCOTT, Archelaus

Archelaus Scott died at his home in Northside on Tuesday morning. His health had been very poor for a long time. Funeral services at the Christian church on Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock were in charge of Rev. JE Stone. Archalaus Scott was born in Putnam Co, near Mortin Ind, Oct 10, 1836 and died Feb 8, 1916 at Waveland In. On Jan 18, 1863, he was married to Mary Jane McGill. To this union were born 3 children, two of whom are living, Effie and Charlie. On Jan 1, 1870, he was widowed by the death of his wife. He was again united in marriage to Mary McMullen Jan 18, 1872. To this union, were born 10 children, 8 of whom are living. When the war broke out in 1861 he enlisted in the 43rd regiment under Col. Manson, and served until he was given an honorable discharge. Mr. Scott has lived in Waveland 32 years and was well known and liked by all who knew him. In 1872 he joined the Christian church at Whitesville, Ind. Althou (sic) Mr. Scott did not attend church regularly, he was a faithful reader of the Bible. Mr. Scott is survived by his widow, 10 children, 26 grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. The children are: Mrs. Effie Call of Clinton; Charles Scott of Indianapolis; Mrs. Many Adams of Frankton; Mrs. Laura Cooper and Will Scott, of Lebanon; Mrs. Viola Moore, Mrs. Stella Morgan, Ben and Ira Scott, of Waveland. AMong those from a distance were: M/M WR Adams of Frankton; Mrs. George Miller and Miss Maud, M/m Fred Cooper an dM/M Will Scott of lebanon; Charles Scott of Indianpolis; Mrs. Effie Call, M/M Clarence Call; M/M Richard Call; Harry Call; Huber Call; Fred Call; WIlliam Call and Edward Call of Clinton; Andrew Scott of Fincastle; Samuel and Thomas McMullen and Mrs. Lorena Bowen of Mechanicsburg.
