Friday July 28, 1911 – 3.05. 82. Clouds were flying but no rain. The body of Mrs. James T. Scott was burried here, this afternoon in the Presbyterian Cemetery by the side of her husbands body. Her home for several years was with her daughter Mrs. Lyford Canine at Paris, Illinois. Ed and Tom Scott were in the shop to see me. 35 gal gas 3.83.

Mrs. James Scott died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.L. Canine, in Paris, Ill on Thurs. morning of last week. 8 years and 8 months ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis that left her nearly helpless. This spring she grew worse, and for 104 days the only food she took was on occasional sip of butter milk. Short funeral services were held at the home on Friday morning. The body was brought here on the 2:22 train and interred in the Presbyterian Cemetery by the side of her husband. Rev. Carl Berry of the Browns Valley Christian offic. at the grave. Anna Boswell was born in Russellville March 11, 1833. In 1851 she was married to James Scott who died 12 years ago. To them were born 8 children of whom 7 survive: Martha F. Bell of Witchita, Ks; Milton Scott of Metcalf, Ill; Mrs. LL Canine; Thomas and James Scott of Paris, Ill; Charles Scott of Marshall and Edwin Scott of Harrisburg, Ill, all of whom were present except Mrs. Bell. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Since the death of her husband, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Canine. During her long period of helplesness she was given the most devoted care. She sustained a cheerful disposition and bore her sufferings without complaint. Since her youth she has been a consistent member of the Christian Church. Besides the children there were present at the interment: TA Foley and LL Canine and daughter, Esther of Paris; Mrs. Edwin Scott of Harrisburg, Ill; Miss Marguerite Scott of Marshall, Ill; Mr. & Mrs. Chester Scott and Mrs Harry Daugherty of Ladoga; Mrs. Cynthia Boswell and James and John Boswell of Bloomingdale; besides many friends and former neighbors.
