Windsor, Conn – The body of Lee A. Sanders, 21, RR 2, Poland, Ind will be brought to the Whitaker Funeral Home at Cloverdale from nearby New London, Conn according to information disclosed Sunday night concerning the death of the young Hoosier sailor. Authorities said Sanders was burned to death Saturday afternoon when his automobile struck a utility pole here and burst into flames. Sanders, a 1960 graduate of the Cloverdale HS was stationed at the US Navy’s nuclear training school here. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Sanders. The father is a former Jackson Township (Owen County, Ind) trustee and is currently night supervisor of the Indiana Boys’ School. Also surviving are three brothers, Bill at home; Roy, RR 2, Poland and John, Indianapolis; one sister, Miss Jane Sanders, Indianapolis and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Ahlemeyer RR 2, Poland. Funeral services will be at Whitaker Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday. Friends may call after 12 noon Wednesday.
