SANDERS, John H - d WWI of tb

An official message was received here Saturday by Mrs. Thomas Hardwick telling of the death in France on Feb 21 of Pvt. John H. Sanders.  Death was due to tuberculosis and meningitis.  Pvt. Sanders was well known in this county and at the time of his enlistment in the Army was employed by the Garrett Taxi line. He was sent to the chamber of commerce school for mechanics at Indianapolis and after three months’ training was sent to France.  The text of the message is as follows:

Washington, 2:55 p.m. March 8
Mrs. Thomas Hardwick RFD 3, Greencastle
Deeply regret to inform  you that it is officially reported that Pvt. John H. Sanders, ordnance department died of tuberculosis and meningitis Feb 21st.  Harris, Adjt. General.
His wife, Mrs. Katherine Sanders and a little daughter, Leona and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sanders survive.
